3. CHALLENGE RULES
The objective of the challenge is to eat all of the contents of one challenge bowl, which includes rice noodles, beef, and soup (not including vegetables), as fast as possible. The contestant may eat using the utensil of their choice (chopsticks, spoons and/or fork) while standing up or sitting down. The contestant cannot remove noodles, soup, or beef from the challenge bowl. The contestant will be allowed to use/drink water during the challenge. The contestant cannot touch their utensils or begin eating until the starting signal is given. Once the contestant is finished eating their Phở, he/she must turn his/her bowl upside down, which will be his/her end signal. A designated timekeeper will be notified of their completion by this motion. The contestant must swallow all of his/her food before turning over his/her bowl. The winner will be determined by the fastest, legitimate completion of the Phở. The contest will end when the first three contestants complete the challenge. The contestant may use the restroom after the challenge is deemed over by the event staff (UCSD VSA).
Grounds for disqualification include:
• False or incomplete entry form or liability waiver
• Any health risks that could jeopardize the contestant’s health or well-being
• Being under the influence of any substance
• Starting prior to the start signal
• Continuing to eat after the ending signal.
• Failing to completely eat all rice noodles, beef, and soup
Note: The Little Saigon San Diego Foundation and UCSD VSA reserves the right to disqualify any contestant for any reason without explanation.
